Why did you join VoluntEars?
Because I love BSL and I love travelling!
Why did you choose the Peru trip?
Peru has always been on my bucket list.
What were you looking forward to?
Working in the school and Machu Picchu!
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
Adjusting to the altitude.
What words would you use to describe your experience in Peru?
Inclusive, cultural and unforgettable!
What was your funniest or most memorable experience?
Funniest – Cap-gate! Memorable – the moonrise over Lake Titicaca, Duck Duck Goose with the children and the whole Machu Picchu experience (particularly Machu Picchu itself and the waterfall).
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
The variety of experiences, trips and outings.
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
I’ve gained more confidence using BSL in different contexts and with people from a variety of backgrounds, learnt so much about Peruvian culture and the deaf community there and I’ve made lifelong friendships with a group of amazing people!
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
The trip was meticulously planned and organised, ensuring every day was made the most of.
