How did you discover VoluntEars?

From Deaf Day years ago, and from fellow interpreters.

Why did you join VoluntEars?

I’d heard good feedback about the trips, and I wanted to do some volunteering with the Deaf community.

Why did you choose the Morocco trip?

It was a short trip, which was a good starter to try out.

What were you looking forward to?

Meeting new people, volunteering in the Deaf school and visiting a new country.

Were you worried about anything before the trip?

Who I’d be sharing a room with.

What words would you use to describe your experience in Morocco?

It was an incredible experience that left a lasting impression on me. The people I met were friendly and engaging, and I learned a great deal while creating memories that I will cherish forever.

What was your funniest or most memorable experience?

The camel ride was hilarious and incredibly fun! Engaging in activities at the Deaf school was also a very memorable experience.

What did you enjoy the most on the trip?

Everything! The people in the group were all lovely.

How do you think you benefitted from the experience?

I’ve made new friendships and feel that I’ve been part of a group that made a real difference whilst volunteering.

What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?

Very well-organised, and I didn’t really need to think about any decisions while there, as everything was taken care of.

How could we make the trip better in the future?

I can’t think of anything…
