How did you discover VoluntEars?
I met Richard [VoluntEars Director] at Harrow Deaf Club then went to Sri Lanka.
Why did you join VoluntEars?
I want to learn about Deaf Communities all over the world.
Why did you choose the Morocco trip?
It was four days so quite convenient. Morocco is somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit. The itinerary looked amazing.
What were you looking forward to?
The Deaf Association and camels.
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
Not at all. We are in safe hands with Richard and VoluntEars.
What words would you use to describe your experience in Morocco?
So much better than I expected.
What was your funniest or most memorable experience?
My most memorable experience was the Deaf Association. The funniest experience was riding the camels! Just want to say thank you to VoluntEars for taking such lovely photos throughout the trip for us. Really appreciate it.
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
I enjoyed being with the other volunteers. With such a big group on a short trip, I did not expect to make as many friends. Richard [VoluntEars Director] really has a knack for picking the best places. All the restaurants, the riad, the views, the places we visited were spectacular. I felt like we were getting the best of everything. Very grateful to both Richard and David [David Hutchinson, our Communicator on this trip].
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
I think my signing and communication improved on the trip which has helped my confidence as a CSW. I have met some amazing friends and seen a new corner of the world.
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
I loved everything!
How could we make the trip better in the future?
Honestly, VoluntEars, I think your trips are the best thing since sliced bread. The only thing would be to perhaps let people know about quad bike insurance when they book the trip so they can factor it in when initially choosing travel insurance, rather than having to make adjustments after. [We now share this info when you book. If you want to drive a quad bike in the desert you should buy travel insurance which covers this – thanks for your suggestion Lauren].
