Why did you join VoluntEars?
Love for travelling and want to improve BSL and also engage in more conversations and social engagements with deaf adults.
Why did you choose the Morocco trip?
Convenient with school holidays. Felt like a good first choice of a trip, short and cheaper to trial in case I wanted to do another. Was a location I have never visited.
What were you looking forward to?
Socialising with more adults who enjoy travelling. Being exposed to more sign language. Visiting the deaf association. Quad biking.
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
Communication e.g., would my signing level be enough.
What words would you use to describe your experience in Morocco?
An incredible experience.
What was your funniest or most memorable experience?
Camel riding was hilarious and a lot harder than it looks!
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
Meeting new people and exploring a new place.
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
Wider understanding of cultures and deaf culture abroad. Felt as though my knowledge of BSL had improved.
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
Extremely well organised and felt very safe. The diversity of people, e.g., deaf and hearing. Signing and non-signing. Very inclusive.
