Why did you join VoluntEars?

I wanted to engage with the deaf community socially and not just for work. Plus I love travel and adventure so this ticked the box!

Why did you choose the India trip?

I wanted to travel in winter when the weather is bad in the UK, plus I’m a bit obsessed with Asia, and I have a particular passion for India.

What were you looking forward to?

Being away from the UK with a group of adventurous deaf people and seeing more of Kerala.

What words would you use to describe your experience in India?

Magical! The organisation and attention to detail, as ever was sublime. You are incomparable! India never disappoints.

What did you enjoy the most on the trip?

My best memory was probably the Hindu temple and the views from the hotels. But also the backwaters. And the FOOD!

How do you think you benefitted from the experience?

I challenged myself [children] I learnt things [Indian culture] I laughed [Max] and I absorbed amazing BSL and I saw beauty and magic.

What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?

How well organised it is!!!! And that I can hang out with cool deaf people.
