How did you discover VoluntEars?
I found out about VoluntEars through Deaf Day and the rest is history!
Why did you join VoluntEars?
I joined because I want to do something special, and learn about culture outside UK, explore the way of life. I been meeting tons of people since I joined in Sri Lanka in 2019!
Why did you choose the Ghana trip?
I chosen Ghana because it sound amazing and people and culture are stunning. I never been near the waterfall before and it really beautiful! [Boti waterfalls]
What were you looking forward to?
I look forward to fishing village and the waterfall!
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
I been to previous VoluntEars trips so I know how it planned. I have no worries because I know I going to have amazing time!
What words would you use to describe your experience in Ghana?
Colourful, cheerful and outgoing!
What was your funniest or most memorable experience ?
Memorable is when we visit the castles where it used to be slave fort, very long ago. It quite tragic but important lessons to not repeat the history again.
Funniest are… I cannot pick one of the moment! I had load of laugh during the trip!
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
Teaching the class at school! It make me feel confident and I like to work with children and give them feedback! I did two classes, one for art and other BSL. They been taught in two different school.
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
I’m seeing more of what I can do in my life and want to do more now especially with my job.
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
They all really well organised and nice places. Always doing something everyday and we also have time to relax in the beach or pool.
How could we make the trip better in the future?
I hope to see even more opportunities for teaching in future volunteering trip!
What countries would you like to visit in the future?
I’m looking to either book Ghana again or do Nepal. Maybe both, I can’t decide!!
