How did you discover VoluntEars?
I was searching the internet for things to do during your gap year.
Why did you join VoluntEars?
It involved other deaf people so I wasn’t feeling so anxious about being left out.
Why did you choose the Everest Base Camp trip?
I wanted a challenge.
What were you looking forward to?
Seeing Nepal (an Asian country) for the first time.
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
The flight, my first flight since before I could remember and it was a long haul flight.
What words would you use to describe your experience in Nepal?
Amazing, uplifting, challenging, new.
What was your funniest or most memorable experience ?
I had loads of funny moments, hard to pick out a favourite.
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the group.
Was it different to what you expected in any way? Please describe.
It was as great as it could be. Even better than expected to be honest.
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
Confidence to fly long hauls. Made new friends with different backgrounds from different areas of the UK. The experience of how to communicate with foreign non-English speakers.
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
Got me out of my comfort zone and opened me up to the wonders that lie outside the boundaries of the UK.
How could we make the trip better in the future?
Control the weather? Rammechap airport could use the help. Apart from that just keep doing what you do.
