Why did you join VoluntEars?

Because it was a marriage of two loves.

Why did you choose the Everest Base Camp trip?

It’s an epic adventure that challenges and rewards.

What were you looking forward to?

Looking forward to reaching base camp (which wasn’t what I expected) but I was also looking forward to seeing the changing landscape, meeting new people, experiencing the culture in a new area of Nepal and seeing the mountains firsthand.

Were you worried about anything before the trip?

If I’d brought the right kit, if I’d not packed enough.

What words would you use to describe your experience in Nepal?

Rewarding, enjoyable, breathtaking.

What did you enjoy the most on the trip?

Friendship, meeting new people, sharing the experience with others, seeing others grow in so many ways.

Was it different to what you expected in any way? Please describe.

Base camp itself wasn’t what I expected but everything else was.

How do you think you benefitted from the experience?

I ticked off Mount Everest from my to do list, I lost 7lb in weight, got a renewed sense of “I can do this” with projects at home and plans for abroad, increased my stamina for interpreting for others.

What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?

It’s always well planned, the atmosphere is always very positive, the things we see, do, taste etc are always culturally appropriate and respectful.
