How did you discover VoluntEars?
I’ve done 2 previous trips (Ghana and Sri Lanka) – originally just did a Google search.
Why did you join VoluntEars?
I joined so I could meet and travel with people with similar communication methods as me, since communication makes all the difference in connecting with others.
Why did you choose the Morocco trip?
Honestly, friends I made on previous VoluntEars trips are why I chose the Morocco trip, because I missed my friends! [Anna lives in the USA and joined our Morocco trip with people from the UK who she originally met on our Sri Lanka trip in 2019].
What were you looking forward to?
I was looking forward to seeing old friends, making new ones, and tasting a new culture. All of these came true 🙂
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
Yes, I was about to travel overseas with my partner for the first time, and he was about to be exposed to more unfamiliar environments and ways of communicating. But we both had a great time learning so much together!
What words would you use to describe your experience in Morocco?
Delicious food, hot weather, passionate people.
What was your funniest or most memorable experience?
When a henna tattoo lady made me lose my head. And when the sweet camel I rode brought me back to my senses. And dancing to the locals’ music they drummed out for us.
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
Meeting all the people and introducing my friends to each other. And dancing with them 🙂
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
I learned in yet another way how important humor is in life and while traveling.
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
Having a set and organized schedule full of authentic and personalized activities – we did things that might have taken a less experienced leader weeks to crank out. In one day, for example, we got to do both quad biking and camel riding, in addition to a scenic trip to the desert and amazing meals and listening to musicians and singers and dancing!!
How could we make the trip better in the future?
Maybe there could be an extra VoluntEars person to answer the waterfall of questions we had😁
What countries would you like to visit in the future?
Nepal for Everest Base Camp, Argentina, Italy, Japan, Germany, Peru, Madagascar, Jamaica, and by the way many of us would love to spend a year traveling around the world with VoluntEars. Can that be possible? Thank you for changing my life VoluntEars ❤️
