How did you discover VoluntEars?
Online.
Why did you join VoluntEars?
Because I wanted to travel but with other like-minded people and explore different cultures in a fun and nurtured way.
Why did you choose the Peru trip?
Because I had never been to South America, and it looked like a once in a lifetime opportunity!
What were you looking forward to?
Seeing the local sights and people and of course visiting Machu Picchu!
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
Yes, I was worried about the altitude and the people on the group. Hoping that everyone would get along.
What words would you use to describe your experience in Peru?
Amazing, insightful and rewarding!
What was your funniest or most memorable experience?
Seeing Machu Picchu in the sunshine!!
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
Going to Puno and going on Lake Titicaca and visiting the floating island. The boat trip was absolutely beautiful and probably one of my most favourite travel days ever! We were lucky enough to see both a sunset and moonrise over the lake!
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
I have met some friends for life, and I loved learning about the deaf school in Cusco and playing with the lovely children.
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
It is always amazingly organised and Richard [VoluntEars Director] is so friendly and helpful. The interpreters David and Sophie were both brilliant! I loved the trips to Puno, Cusco and Aguas Calientes. It was nice to try different local foods in all of the safe to eat restaurants. I loved the Ceviche!!!
Would you join another VoluntEars trip?
Yes.
