How did you discover VoluntEars?

Recommended by someone.

Why did you join VoluntEars?

I’ve been on previous trips and really enjoyed them. I love being in a deaf/signing environment and learning about deaf people’s lives in different countries/cultures.

Why did you choose the Morocco trip?

It fit with my university holidays, and I was excited to go on another trip soon.

What were you looking forward to?

Meeting the children, making friends with other volunteers, and experiencing the country (e.g., the souks, the camel ride in the desert).

Were you worried about anything before the trip?

No.

What words would you use to describe your experience in Morocco?

Vibrant! The souks were so colourful, the Jardin Majorelle was really lush, and the architecture/decor of Palais Bahia was so intricate.

What was your funniest or most memorable experience?

We stopped at a music shop in a souk to ask about a strange instrument, and when he saw us signing the owner asked how to sign ‘nice to meet you’. It was really unexpected and sweet.

What did you enjoy the most on the trip?

I loved the camel ride and dinner in the desert. It was really fun and relaxing.

What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?

There’s a really good balance of cultural experiences and volunteering. I also love how easy it is to interact with everyone on the trip.
