Why did you join VoluntEars?
Wanted to do overseas volunteering but was nervous to go. VoluntEars seemed like a welcoming and inclusive experience.
Why did you choose the Ghana trip?
The extra activities and more activities with the children in schools.
What were you looking forward to?
Working in the schools.
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
Traveling to a new place, making friends.
What words would you use to describe your experience in Ghana?
Life changing.
What was your funniest or most memorable experience?
The most memorable probably swimming in at the Boti waterfall. It was amazing, the atmosphere, the surroundings. Highlight of the trip. Funniest was when our Tuk Tuks kept over taking each other.
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
The group and engaging with the deaf children.
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
I think it really helped my confidence and mental wellbeing. Made me more confident with sign language. Opened my mind to new experiences.
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
That it was inclusive and that VoluntEars staff were patient and would try their hardest to make the social situations accessible.
What countries would you like to visit in the future?
Sri Lanka / Morocco
