What words would you use to describe your experience in Sri Lanka?
“Exciting, fun, informative, challenging, happy.”
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
“Understand more about deaf education and the opportunities for deaf people.”
What did you like about the VoluntEars programme?
“It was organised by someone who really understands the issues facing deaf people abroad and has an excellent knowledge of Sri Lanka (we were really lucky to have this) I loved my experience.”
What did VoluntEars do well?
“Organise the day to day activities while we were away and demonstrated that they really cared about their volunteers.”
What was your funniest or most memorable experience?
“The group dynamics were amazing and I was constantly laughing in my head about situations we experienced. Shopping at the supermarket is one example. But what really stood out to me was VoluntEars’ knowledge of the places we visited, they were just amazing, my favourite day was at the turtle Sanctuary. It was so clear that VoluntEars had done a lot of preparation for our visits to ensure we the volunteers got the most out of the trip.”
