How did you discover VoluntEars?
From a friend who had previously been on a trip.
Why did you join VoluntEars?
I wanted to do some volunteering, and I’m an interpreting student. So deaf volunteering seemed perfect.
Why did you choose the Nepal trip?
The landscape and itinerary were the most interesting to me.
What were you looking forward to?
Sightseeing and activities with the students.
Were you worried about anything before the trip?
Whether I would be able to complete the trek.
What words would you use to describe your experience in Nepal?
Life-changing.
What was your funniest or most memorable experience ?
Funniest was when Steph found a leech under her top lip 😀 One of the most memorable moments was visiting Pabita’s weaving shop and hearing about her work.
What did you enjoy the most on the trip?
Reaching the top of Poon hill.
How do you think you benefitted from the experience?
I’ve learned some ASL and NSL, expanded my signing skills and met some great people
What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?
The way each day was organised, especially the balance between activities and relaxing time. Overall the itinerary and all the activities were wonderful.
How could we make the trip better in the future?
If the timetable allowed it, I think one or two more days at the school would have been great.
