How did you discover VoluntEars?

Bumped into a lady at a swimming pool who noticed Gareth implants and told him about it

Why did you join VoluntEars?

The website looked interesting but when Richard [VoluntEars Director] phoned me the next day and we chatted it filled me with enough confidence and excitement that I put the idea to the lads. They loved the idea.

What were you looking forward to?

Seeing how deaf children are educated in a different country.  Trekking in the Himalayas.  Seeing a totally new country.

Were you worried about anything before the trip?

Yes. Food, communication, being away without family for 2 weeks. Travelling alone, spending so much time in the company of strangers. Managing the flights and transfers alone.

What words would you use to describe your experience in Nepal?

Action packed and enjoyable. Beautiful scenery

What was your funniest or most memorable experience ?

When the dog followed us for the entire third day trekking.

What did you enjoy the most on the trip?

The three day trek.

How do you think you benefitted from the experience?

Increased confidence in ability to manage new environments and to mix with strangers. Mixing with deaf students aboard and seeing how different their education is.

What did you like about the VoluntEars trip?

Extremely well managed. Enjoyed the totally new experiences and meeting a lovely group of people.

How could we make the trip better in the future?

Open an English restaurant over there ;-). Only joking.
